Dirty dog...

Last Saturday was an exciting day for all. It was Sydney's (Ollie's aunt Sydney) birthday, and aunt Megan's trampoline party. Annnd it was Mud Hero. Mud Hero is a rope-swinging, mud-crawling, ramp-running, wall-climbing, tunnel-diving, slide-slipping, net-crossing, tire-tripping, un-freakin’-believable obstacle run of its kind that’s 100% Canadian-owned.
All muddy after playing in the park.
Ollie, being a dog and all, likes to get dirty. Though he hates being wet, mud is not an issue. See below, after a romp in the park with a husky puppy friend.

So Ollie came along for the Mud Hero fun, accompanies by aunt Tami. Ollie has a lot of aunts! Megan is my sister, but all the rest of them are like sisters! Ollie really got into the mud hero theme. As you might remember, his FAVOURITE activity is digging. And digging in the mud is the best digging out there!

My own little mud hero

Ollie was quite the muddy mess before we even started the race.

Muddy mess
Then he waited patiently while Syd and I ran the race. Okaaaay...Syd ran. I walked most of the way, with intermittent attempts to run. My ragweed allergies are really bad right now, and it was hot. Don't judge. Tami captured several pics and videos of us running, and some of the patient pup.

Ollie celebrated with Sydney when she finished the race, and got quite a bit more muddy. And then he really got into it when I finished. There was mud everywhere. He looks unimpressed in this pic, but I think he was just grumpy about being left behind during the race. He often greets me enthusiastically, and then gets a bit pissy at me for leaving in the first place. We really need to work on the separation anxiety.

After we spent about a half hour de-mudding, we went to my parent's house for Megan's trampoline party. The tramp has been around for many years, so we set it up one last time, and gave it a good bounce, before sending it on its way. Ollie eve tried the tramp with Megan and her friend Mike.

Then Tami and Sydney hung out with Ollie while he slept. It was a long day and there is only so much excitement that one pup can take! Thanks everyone for the amazing day!

I'm growing up so fast!

Arf!

Hello my friends! I know I'm always going on about how big I'm getting, but it's astounding! I was thinking back to when I was very very small, and thought I would share some memories with you.

This is me when I was only three weeks old.
Apparently I look more like a beaver than a pom!

Me at five weeks - looking more pommy!
Seven weeks - already in love with shoes.

Nine weeks! This picture is from my first weekend in the city.
I was sooo small! I'm pretty sure my legs are three times this long now.

But I'm not a lion!

Arf!

It was my Dad's birthday last weekend, and we were pretty busy on Saturday! We even saw my cousin Carter!

And for my dad's birthday, my Grandma and Grandpa got ME some presents! I like one of them...what do you think?
Dad's a big Lion's fan!

Grandma also got me some booties...we'll see how those go over when it gets cold out! Thanks guys! Love!

Ug...more wet stuff!

Dog mom Lily
Arf!

What's with all this water falling from the sky again? I really don't like it! But luckily my parent's hadn't clued into the fact that it was raining this morning, so I wasn't subjected to the dreaded raincoat. Actually, I think my dad knew that it was raining, but didn't say anything because he's fully against dressing me up like a person. Ten points dad!

So this morning I was gazing at myself in the closet mirror. Just checking out my lanky puppy self, as puppies do. And I started wondering what I will look like when I'm fully grown.

What do you think I'm going to look like when I grow up? My dog mom was really red/orange, but my dog dad was very light.

My human Mom thinks I will look like this.

My human dad thinks I will look like this!I think he thinks I'm heading for a life as a wild, unrefined Pom...

Look at that guys hair! He's like the Fabio of dogs, with the crazy eyes of Steve Buscemi!

Sleepy puppy

Ollie and I went to the vet this morning, and so far its been a very big day for the very little guy.

After the vet, we went to the Evergreen Brickworks market, where Ollie got to meet lots people and dogs!

The little guy sees every new person/dog that he comes across as a possible new friend. He puts his full energy into greeting someone new, and shows them just how excited he is to make their acquaintance. I think we should all learn from his enthusiasm!

But now he is completely tuckered out, and will sleep for a while, so I thought it would be a good time to post some of his cutest sleepy puppy moments.

I'm getting so big!

Check out this picture that they took of me at work, next to a picture of me from only two weeks ago! Look at those long legs.

Now I just need my fur to fill in, so I look like a real Pom. People are always asking if I'm part Pom, or a Chihuahua. Full Pom right here!

I like to stand on desks...it makes me feel tall.

A better day...

What a drama pup. He seriously sat still until we took the coat off of him. Must remember this for future photo shoots. Maybe that was Wegman's trick...

King for a day...he was so much smaller a month ago!
To cheer up the grumpy pooch, let's remember a wonderful day from the beginning of July. Ollie had been with us for just a few days, and Pat, Ollie's dad, planned a surprise puppy shower for him (and me!).

We were totally caught off guard. We'd been at a baseball game all day, and I was exhausted from getting up in the night with Mr. puppy pants. I heard voices before opening the apartment door, but assumed that my roommate Sydney had some people over, likely eagerly awaiting the return of the puppy. But no!

The place was decorated up all in blue, and my closest friends were there for the surprise. They genuinely surprised me (well, us...Ollie had no idea either)!

The little prince was then showered with presents (inducing the previously mentioned Raincoat). More treats than he could eat (would be allowed to eat) in a year, and so many toys. What a lucky guy!

Some highlights:
Everything in blue

Blue decorations too!

For all of his treats

Thanks aunt Megs!

Thanks aunt Syd!

Thanks Pat too! What a great surprise!

Worse than water.

Arf!

Today I have discovered something worse than water. Until this morning, I thought that there was nothing that I disliked more than being wet. But I take it all back.

I'm sure you're wondering, what could be a terror, a horror, a torture that is worse than soggy wet fur? That, instead if throwing me into fits of anger, merely makes me freeze...petrified with fear?

One word...RAINCOAT.

Apparently, this contraption is designed to do the following:
  • keep me dry.
  • make me happier to go out into the rain.
  • allow me to be more content on my walk to work with she who shall not be named (I'm quite mad at mom at the moment...).
But instead it just makes me embarassed. Look at what how silly I look! Oh for the love of dog!

"Yeah, I'm mad at you..."
"Oh excellent, a hood will definitely help this situation..."
"Not even talking to you until you take this thing off..."

Ahhhh...

Hello again!

I've just figured out how to blog from my own email! Very exciting...

That's all for now! Except for this picture of Ollie at 5 weeks old! xox

Puppy Love

Hi there,

I'm Mel, Ollie's Mom, and I'll be taking over for most of the Blogging. Ollie has been mine for just over a month, and I've never been more happy (except when he insists on waking up at 6am). He is a little bundle of joy, and he brightens the day of just about everyone he comes in contact with.

Usually Ollie is a city pup. He comes to work with me every day, and makes many friends each morning on our walk to the office. It used to take me five minutes to walk to work. Now it takes me at least 20...
He did love our week at his Dad's family's cottage last week, where he got to be a wilderness pup and learn all about digging and sea snails.

I've dreamed of having a Pom all of my life. I've taken hundreds of pictures and many videos of the little guy in the last month, so I will post some in upcoming posts. Enjoy!

Mel

Ollie Pup, Ollie Pup...

Arf!

I'm Ollie the Pomeranian, and I'm three months old. My days generally consist of hanging with my friends, and making people smile. I'll probably let my mom (Mel) and others do most of the blogging, but just thought I would say "hi!".

At three months old, my favourite things are:
  • Playing with my cat friend Romeo
  • Making people smile! I love meeting new people and dogs, and giving VERY enthusiastic greetings to the ones that I know and love.
  • Digging...anywhere.
I'm not a big fan of:
  • Water. AT ALL. But somehow I keep getting wet. I feel like the humans have someting to do with this...
  • Sleeping past 6am.
Otherwise, I pretty much love everything. I live in Toronto, Ontario and am loving city life so far. Can't wait to share all of my adventures with you!
